Interesting stuff with the realignment :yup: did you research all the amounts or make them up?
:melo2:

I researched a fair amount of it and used gpt to generate the correct legal terminology and realistic structuring of the new tv deals and regional bonuses.

I used anti-trust lawsuits as my reasoning for re-alignment in 2025, but vetted it out a bit more with this one :yep:

HOLY SHIT. It’s time!!!! Expectations will be at an all time high! I’m assuming his deal breaker was actually championship contender and Michigan sucked the last couple years?
Yep deal breaker was champ contender and we're ranked 11th at the time. Michigan was 11-3 in 2025, but then plummeted to 7-6 last year and that triggered his deal breaker to bolt

Now Or Never - Coastal Carolina 2027 Season Preview
The Teal Report - July 2027

Image

After a breakout 2025 campaign and a 12-0 start in 2026, Coastal Carolina looked poised to crash the College Football Playoff party. But a stunning 30-27 upset loss to Southern Miss in the Sun Belt Championship Game sent shockwaves through Conway—and sent the Chanticleers spiraling just outside the postseason picture.

Now? The heartbreak is fuel, and the Chanticleers are back with a vengeance.

With former No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood taking over at quarterback and Kade Vaughn’s third season officially underway, the message in Conway is simple: it’s title or bust.

“We put on for Conway,” Coach Vaughn shouted at midfield following the Chants Showcase spring game, donning teal-tinted aviators and his signature sleeveless hoodie. Behind him, “Put On” by Carolina native Jeezy echoed through the stadium.

And Vaughn wasn’t just talking.

By landing Underwood, the former Michigan QB and one-time LSU commit, Coastal Carolina brought the eyes of the nation to The Teal.

“We knew what it meant to land Bryce,” Vaughn said. “It’s a sign of what we’re building here—a powerhouse in the making. But it’s not enough to be recognized. Now we’ve got to prove it. We've got to get surgical with it."

Underwood brings pedigree and production. He passed for 7,000+ yards and 56 touchdowns over two seasons at Michigan, and while his completion percentage dipped in Year 2 (65% to 58%), scouts still rave about his arm talent.

“You hear the pop when he throws,” said OC Drew Hollingshead. “He’s got a hose.”

But it’s not just the arm Coastal is hoping to unlock.

“His legs were underused at Michigan,” Vaughn noted. “We plan to change that.”

Despite the quarterback change, the formula remains the same: run the ball, protect the ball, and pick your spots downfield.

Running backs Bill Davis and Michael Allen return after combining for over 1,800 yards last season, and now they’ll be joined by a reloaded receiving corps.

Aziah Johnson, the Chants’ leading receiver last year, is back. He’ll be flanked by transfer WR Dazmin James, a track star from California with 4.23 speed.

“I want to be on a telepathic link with those guys,” Underwood said of his offseason work with the duo. "At least on the field," added the junior QB with a chuckle and a nudge to his new teammates, show casing the early chemistry the Chants offense is building.

Meanwhile, Trishtin Glass is making headlines of his own—by changing positions. The 6’4” receiver is now transitioning to tight end, bulking up 20 pounds in the offseason and preparing for a hybrid role in Vaughn’s system.

“He’s going to take some hits,” one Sun Belt scout noted. “But with that speed and skillset, he could be a nightmare matchup over the middle.”

While the national conversation is fixated on Underwood and the offense, the defense—ranked No. 1 in the country last season—isn’t going anywhere.

“We were #1 for a reason,” DE LJ McCray barked after logging two sacks in the Chants Showcase. “And we’re gonna remind everybody why.”

McCray returns as the tone-setter up front, now joined by Michigan transfer Lugard Edokpayi and breakout sophomore Darrion Hammer, who saw rotational reps last year behind the now-departed Aakil Washington.

The biggest question mark? Linebacker.

All three starting Mikes from last season are gone, leaving true freshman Walt Reyna—the highest-rated high school recruit in program history before Underwood—and sophomore Enrique Ambrose to hold down the middle.

“Walt’s got the motor. Enrique’s got the playbook,” Vaughn said. “Together, we think they can hold the line.”

In the secondary, Thorpe Award winner Trevor Holton returns alongside Josiah Persinger, Ja’Marley Riddley, and Dalton Dexter. Add in Jo’ziah Edmond, another former Wolverine, at nickel—and you’ve got arguably the deepest secondary in the Sun Belt.

The Chanticleers open with familiar foe Liberty, but the real proving ground comes in Week 2: a trip to Death Valley to face Clemson.

“Coach Vaughn said they were Kings of the Carolinas last year,” ESPN’s Pat McAfee reminded fans. “Well now they’ve gotta go take the crown. And I've got it on good authority that his soundbite from last season - "Clemson's Next" - is plastered ALL OVER their locker room. Coach Dabo and those boys want to end the talk once and for all."

And Clemson isn’t the only test.
Week 4: A visit from South Carolina, hoping to avenge last year’s loss that prompted the "King of the Carolina's" boast by Vaughn.
Week 5: A trip to Boone to face App State in the Sun Belt opener.
Week 6: A non-conference clash in The Swamp vs. Florida.

“This schedule is a gauntlet,” Kirk Herbstreit said. “But it’s also a résumé builder. With the Pac-12 back in the fold and a loaded G6 field, Coastal can’t afford just a Sun Belt title—they’ll need statement wins to make the playoff.”

Kade Vaughn has built Coastal Carolina into a national name.

Now he has the quarterback. The defense. The schedule.

And the pressure.

“No more dark horse. No more underdog,” Vaughn said. “We’re not sneaking up on anybody anymore. And we like it that way.”

"The way I see it - we're our own competition. If we live up to our standards? Boom," added Vaughn with one final smirk before departing the podium.

Buckle up, Conway. The Teal Wave is rolling again.

Conway, SC. - Business is booming once again in Conway.

With the national spotlight firmly fixed on new QB1 Bryce Underwood, Coastal Carolina opened the 2027 season in dominant fashion, dismantling Liberty 49–6 on The Teal in front of a sold-out crowd hungry for answers—and Underwood delivered.

“This was a great experience and awesome to finally play in front of these fans,” said Underwood postgame. “I think we gave them something to be excited about. But let’s be honest—the real test comes next week.”

He’s referring, of course, to Coastal’s highly anticipated trip to Death Valley for a showdown with Clemson—a program still seething over Kade Vaughn’s claim that the Chanticleers were the “Kings of the Carolinas” in 2026.

But before the Tigers could get their shot, Liberty got their beating.

Underwood wasted no time showing why he was the most coveted quarterback in the transfer portal. On his first drive, he orchestrated a smooth 5-play, 75-yard march, capped by a precision fade to Dazmin James in the corner of the end zone.

Moments later, he connected with James again—this time a gorgeous 80-yard bomb that set off chants of C.I.N.O. across Brooks Stadium.

“You can tell—this is a completely new offense, even with the same names on the field,” said play-by-play voice Layne Harris. “That kind of throw just wasn’t in the playbook last year.”

Underwood’s poise and pocket presence sparked a first-half explosion, but the debut wasn’t flawless. He coughed up a fumble on a scramble—Liberty’s only scoring drive came off the short field—and later tossed a second-quarter interception on a bobbled pass by converted tight end Trishtin Glass.

“That one’s on me,” Underwood said postgame showing the leadership that those around the Coastal Carolina program have gushed about since the junior joined in the spring.

If the offense looked explosive, the defense looked familiar: dominant.

Lugard Edokpayi, one of Underwood’s former Michigan teammates, tallied a sack in his debut off the edge. Fellow Wolverine transfer Jo’ziah Edmond added an interception, helping to cap off a night that saw Coastal’s defense hold Liberty to under 250 total yards and no touchdowns.

After a gutting end to the 2026 campaign, Coastal needed to send a message—and they did just that.

Still, as Underwood put it: “The real test comes next week.”

That test? Clemson. On the road. In prime time. And the Tigers are licking their chops for a shot at the upstarts from Conway.

For now, though, Coastal starts 1–0 with a highlight-reel debut from their new face of the program—and the hype is officially justified.

Damn, i just caught up now. Underwood to CC, that is outstanding man. Good luck with this season, but after kicking Liberty in the ass you might not need much luck.
