the 2-for-1 special of your QBs leaving gonna make it an interesting portal season. happy hunting.

Better hit on QB in the portal or it’s going to be a long season 3

you know looking back I have to agree with Tim Beck, fuck the portal lol. Losing your top 2 QB's is rough, hoping you can snag a quality starter if you don't already have one in mind.

Get the Word Out - The Chants Are Up
By The Teal Report - December 2026

Image

Conway, SC - Earlier this year, Coach Kade Vaughn made headlines by signing 4-star linebacker Walt Reyna — the highest-rated high school prospect in program history. But that milestone didn’t last long.

Because now? Coastal Carolina has officially landed the biggest name to ever wear The Teal: former No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood.

“Point blank — I want to win a championship,” Underwood declared in his announcement to leave Michigan for Conway. “I’ve seen what Coach Vaughn’s built the last two years, and I think they’re one guy away. Me.”

Just like that, Coastal’s national perception shifts from gritty overachiever to full-blown College Football Playoff contender.

“You look at their roster last year and it’s easy to argue that with consistent quarterback play, they’re right there,” said former Alabama coach Nick Saban during ESPN’s transfer portal special. “Now they’ve got a guy who can unlock Vaughn’s offense. It’s time to find out if that ‘offensive genius’ reputation is real.”

Underwood, who flipped from LSU to Michigan as the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, arrives in Conway after two full seasons as the Wolverines' starter. He posted back-to-back 3,500-yard campaigns and improved from 26 to 30 touchdowns in Year 2, while cutting his interceptions nearly in half (from 17 to 10). Still, critics point to a dip in completion percentage (65% down to 58%) and limited production with his legs (just 258 rushing yards and 0 TDs last season).

But raw stats aside, Underwood brings five-star pedigree, big-game experience, and sky-high expectations to a Chanticleer squad that finished 13-1 and boasts one of the nation’s top defenses.

And he’s not coming alone.

Seven transfer additions are set to join Underwood in Conway, headlined by blazing-fast WR Dazmin James (4.23 40-yard dash), who comes from the West Coast looking to form a dynamic duo with returning star Aziah Johnson.

On the offensive line, Sam Pendleton (North Carolina) and Benry Wilson (UCF) will step in to help replace departed starters Carter Miller and Joseph Hanson.

Defensively, Underwood will reunite with a pair of former Michigan teammates: edge rusher Lugard Edokpayi and cornerback Jo’ziah Edmond, adding veteran depth to a unit that ranked #1 in total defense last season. With Thorpe Award winner Trevor Holton returning in the secondary and LJ McCray wreaking havoc up front, the Chanticleers defense remains elite—even with the departures of Aakil Washington and Nick James.

“They’ll miss some of those key defensive leaders, no doubt,” said ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit. “But the core is still there. The O-line is mostly intact, the RB room is loaded, and now you drop in Bryce Underwood and Dazmin James into an already-potent offense? If the chemistry clicks early, I see no reason why Coastal Carolina isn’t in the Playoff conversation again this year.”

One year removed from heartbreak in the Sun Belt title game, the Chanticleers have reloaded in a major way.

Now the question isn’t whether Coastal Carolina can dream big.

It’s whether they can finish the job without the element of surprise on their side anymore.

Hey we're ranked 11th in Championship Contender so in his eyes - we it. Only 10 schools have a better shot than the Chants according to the grades

Ayyyyy sacrifices had to be made - when their future husbands ask what it cost to get a title in Conway they'll proudly declare their contributions to the cause Image

Realignment Re-Routed: Inside the 11-Month Sprint That Reshaped College Football - Again

The Behind the Scenes Calendar

Sept. 6 ’26 – Kickoff & Kickoff Calls
Forty-eight hours after Week 1, the DOJ-brokered Working Group—commissioners from the Pac-12, Mountain West, ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten, network VPs, CFP staffers—opened its first Tuesday Zoom. Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. ET for six months they argued over airline miles, Nielsen curves and exit-fee spreadsheets; every Thursday their AD subcommittee traced bus routes for Olympic sports.

Nov. 15 ’26 – The “Stipulated Map” Vote
After ten rounds of edits the presidents flew to Chicago, donned their university crests and—by a combined 55-5 count—signed the consent decree the DOJ demanded. Attachments A and B: brand-new bylaws and the membership grids that would reshape college-sports west of the Mississippi.

Jan. 15 ’27 – Matrix Day
At 4:48 p.m. CT league counsels hit “Send” on the 2027 football scheduling matrices, beating the federal deadline by 72 minutes. Networks exhaled; the nine-month runway to build TV windows matched the SEC’s 2024 expansion to the day.

Feb. 14 ’27 – Championship Week Summit
With maps locked, commissioners huddled in Phoenix to auction off neutral-site title games. Five NFL owners won the sweepstakes, turning the first weekend of December into a cross-country showcase (details below).

Mar. 1 ’27 – Contract Ink
ESPN and NBC signed addenda activating the $90 million regionalization bonus pool. Bottom line: USC and UCLA will save roughly $6 million versus their FY-26 Big Ten travel budgets while still clearing north of $60 million in media revenue.

New Landscape - Old Rivalries

PAC-12 (12 teams)

Boise St. • Cal • Colorado • Fresno St. • Oregon • Oregon St. • Stanford • UCLA • UNLV • USC • Washington • Washington St.

MOUNTAIN WEST (10 teams)

Air Force • Colorado St. • Hawai‘i • Nevada • New Mexico • New Mexico St. • San Diego St. • San José St. • Utah St. • Wyoming

ONE-OFF RETURNS
• West Virginia back to the ACC after 13 seasons on the Big 12’s eastern island
• SMU slides home to the Big 12, reuniting the Metroplex quartet (Baylor, TCU, Houston, SMU)

Title Game Makeover

American - MetLife Stadium, New York
Conference USA - NRG Stadium, Houston
Mountain West - SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles
Pac-12 - Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas (Extended)
Sun Belt - Nissan Stadium, Nashville

The Numbers That "Saved" College Football

The Spreadsheet That Saved Fresno

Week 6 slide deck: adding Boise, Fresno and UNLV (while returning USC & UCLA) cut Olympic-sport air miles by 32 percent versus the 2025 Big Ten-plus-Pac mash-up—without denting primetime football inventory. One network exec called it “the tipping-point chart.”

Exit Fees, Re-Priced

Consent-decree cap: withdrawal charges max at 200 percent of a league’s prior-year payout. That chopped ~$35 million off the bills USC & UCLA owed the Big Ten and pared West Virginia’s Big 12 tab to a mid-eight-figure bite.

The Broadcast Bluff

Networks imposed a hard Jan 15 matrix deadline—miss it and the $90 million bonus disappears. Paired with DOJ treble-damage threats, the bluff kept presidents and lawyers at the table.

After a decade of sprawl, college football has snapped back to drivable rivalries—capped by five neutral-site finales big enough for the NFL. Watch this space: for a sport addicted to realignment drama, stability suddenly looks like the newest storyline.

HOLY SHIT. It’s time!!!! Expectations will be at an all time high! I’m assuming his deal breaker was actually championship contender and Michigan sucked the last couple years?
