Hartline was the man in Miami, a slow white receiver who randomly popped up to make a play. Interesting hire.

SEC would be a fun challenge. Every week would be a game you can lose.

Foxworth should have came back, gonna be tough replacing that linebacker room
he was a senior. Tabor should have come back tho, we would have burnt defenses to a crisp with him (98 spd), Briggs (98 spd), and Best (97spd) in the air raid :obama:

A lot going on in here. That event generator mean as hell
event generator only had the players being suspended for academic issues. The problem was, it pulled three players in two weeks for the same reason so I had to make it believable. Thus the investigation and ban. Freeman was just circumstance. Georgia was on his list (that I made) and they just happened to open up after Y1. SEC move been planned for a minute, pending us dominating the ACC. and like Hov said

who gon stop me?

CC to the SEC, new innovative coach, and your star back back? Crazy offseason
SEC move would be next year, but I was totally shocked McCallum came back. 94 overall back and Heisman winner, thought for sure he was going to declare

he's proven to be a great recruiter and innovative as a coach, so hopeful we can do it justice

Despite Transfer Ban, Hartline Makes Impact In Final Recruiting Window

Image

Conway, SC. - Hurricanes fans have seen this movie before. A five-star receiver leans Miami for months, only for Brian Hartline to swoop in at the buzzer. It happened in 2023 with Jeremiah Smith, the Florida native many believed was a lock for the ‘Canes. And now it’s happened again.

Five-star WR Dalton Fowler, the Las Vegas born No. 13 overall prospect, had Miami atop his board since midseason. Though he never formally committed, every other contender backed off, convinced the Hurricanes had him secured.

But with Coastal Carolina under a self-imposed transfer ban this offseason, Hartline needed to get creative. He placed a feeler call to Fowler, expecting little. That 15 minute conversation turned into an official visit to Conway. According to Fowler, the plan was simple: confirm that Miami was still the right choice.

“I’d only visited Miami,” Fowler said. “I figured going to Coastal would just reassure me I was making the right call.”

Then the visit happened and everything changed.

Hartline and his new staff rolled out the teal carpet. Fowler toured Brooks Stadium, sat through an in-depth skill session with QB Anthony Prude, OC Connor McQueen, and Hartline, and learned exactly how the revamped offense would function, and where he’d fit.

“They didn’t sugarcoat anything,” Fowler said. “With their receivers healthy, I’m not a Day 1 star. They’re loaded. But they talked about what I’d learn from Morgan [Briggs] and Darin [Best], and what the offense looks like once it’s my turn.”

A trip to Myrtle Beach and a private dinner at Aspen Grille sealed the experience. By the time Fowler flew home to Vegas, Coastal had closed the gap with Miami entirely.

But while Miami assumed the recruitment was over, the Hurricanes shifted their attention to the transfer portal, adding two four-star receivers for immediate impact. That was the moment Fowler picked up the phone.

“I asked him straight up,” Fowler said. “Am I gonna have a role in Conway, or are you gonna bring in guys over me?”

Hartline matched directness with directness, a stark contrast to Miami’s earlier assurances.

“We’re always going to add talent,” he told Fowler. “But you’ll get a fair shot here. I’ve coached some of the best receivers in college football. If that’s what you want, you’ll get it.”

That was all Fowler needed. He committed to The Teal on the spot.

And Fowler wasn’t the only prospect to choose Coastal while other powerhouses were preoccupied with the portal. Hartline closed the cycle by signing a strong group of depth pieces, including a quartet of three-stars who should bolster the secondary.

“We lost a lot of DB talent between graduations and dismissals,” Hartline said. “Drake and Keene may not be headliners, but they’ve got the traits to thrive here.”

Despite taking zero transfers, Coastal Carolina finished with the No. 3 class nationally, trailing only Clemson and Ohio State, while landing a national-best five five-star recruits after adding Fowler.

“I would’ve recruited a little less intensely if I knew what was coming,” Hartline joked.

In total, the Chanticleers inked 20 recruits and, once again, Brian Hartline walked off with a five-star Miami thought it had already won.

That class is setting Hartline up for a great season or epic collapse. He’s a great recruiter but can he handle the defense?

Chanticleers Trio Eyeing Historic Comparison

Image

Conway, SC. -Last season, Braydon Tabor was the heartbeat of Coastal Carolina’s offense using a rare blend of size, speed, and swagger to pace the Chanticleers in both receiving yards (1,582) and touchdowns (17). But behind him, a trio of young wideouts quietly built their resumes, waiting for their turn in Conway’s spotlight.

According to junior Morgan Briggs, that turn has officially arrived.

“You look at this group of guys we’ve got? I don’t see why we can’t be compared to that collection down in Tuscaloosa,” Briggs said, grinning.

“That collection,” of course, refers to one of the greatest receiver rooms in modern college football: DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, and Jaylen Waddle — the kind of comparison usually reserved for message boards, not microphones.

But new head coach Brian Hartline didn’t back down from Briggs’ bold claim.

“I know who they’re studying,” Hartline joked. “Tell me they’re wrong.”

Briggs is the group’s alpha; a 6-foot-1 burner with a verified 4.33 in the 40 and a smoothness that makes big plays look routine. He finished last season with 803 yards and 11 touchdowns, flashing number one receiver traits even while playing behind Tabor.

He’s flanked by two matchup nightmares in their own right. At 6’4”, Darin Best pairs his length with legit track speed (4.37), making him a jump-ball threat who can also run by corners. Marco Sawyer (6’3”, 4.37 40) spent last season terrorizing special teams units, finishing third in Jet Award voting, but coaches insist he’s barely scratched the surface of his offensive potential.

All three now step into an offense built for fireworks. New offensive coordinator Connor McQueen is installing an Air Raid system modeled after the one he learned under Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma and USC. Returning quarterback Anthony Prude knows the trio well, and with Hartline overseeing their development, expectations inside the building are sky high.

“We’re placing bets on who’s finishing with the most yards, touchdowns, everything,” Briggs laughed. “Place your bets now; I’m going for 1,500 and 20 tuddies. Easy.”

Behind the bravado is real work. Coaches say the trio has logged more offseason hours than any position group on the roster. They even rented a house together for the summer part film study lab, part bonding space, with Prude frequently dropping in to throw, watch tape, or simply hang out.

“They don’t just have the tools,” Hartline said. “They have the drive. Plenty of guys with elite talent never pan out because they don’t want to be great. These three push each other every day. That’s what will set them apart.”

With a scheme built for explosive plays, a quarterback with a cannon, and a head coach who made his name sculpting elite receiver rooms, Coastal Carolina’s passing attack suddenly looks like one of the most intriguing storylines in the ACC.

The sky might not just be the limit, this group looks intent on climbing right through it.

Hopefully Hartline isn't a pump & dumper like Freeman was.

Class is looking buttery
