The SEC could be the change you need to keep things fresh and challenging. Also moving Clemson too makes since to keep the rivalry going. No transfers will make recruiting more fun because now you get to really see what some of these high school kids are made of. I landed 4* RB Addison Daniels who I had no idea as a RS FR would progress to a 90 and if I had landed the transfer portal guy's I was after he would've been buried like #4 or #5 on the depth chart. Just means you got to find young guy's ready to step up and make plays

dude sandwiched a 13-1 season with two 5-7 seasons
They haven't won a Natty in 10 years and lost twice (2029 and 2031)
oh. you gonna hate this recruiting update then
that's why I had to take the transfer portal penalty to avoid probation so there were no hang ups. RL Missouri, A&M, and others have had issues but were overlooked when they self imposed penalties, so had to go that route
Thats what I'm thinking. We've had two high rated classes in a row and although they weren't the monster class of three years ago (Prude, Briggs, Best, etc.) they had some solid guys. no Elite Dev trait, but plenty of impact that should progress.Deuce2223 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025, 15:49The SEC could be the change you need to keep things fresh and challenging. Definitely wanted to keep Clemson for the rivalry and irl I don't think the SEC would want to not take Clemson. Moving South Carolina to the ACC again can be pitched as a positive, since they're an original founder, and may move Vanderbilt as well.

Heisman Winner Fredrick McCallum Announces His Return To Conway At Teal Farewell

Conway, SC. - While the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers gathered to honor 18 graduating seniors; plus junior wideout Braydon Tabor, who declared for the NFL Draft despite carrying a sixth-round grade , it wasn’t the departures that stole the spotlight at the Teal Farewell. Even with three more players entering the transfer portal, attention shifted to the one star who wasn’t leaving.
Heisman winner Fredrick McCallum.
Expected by just about everyone to bolt for the NFL after a dominant first season as Coastal’s full-time starter, McCallum instead stunned the room. After the Chanticleers fell short in the College Football Playoff, the former Ohio State back said he “wouldn’t feel right” leaving Conway with unfinished business.
“I’ve got to run it back,” McCallum announced from the podium. And when asked about the trio of portal exits, headlined by Bednarik, Nagurski, and Butkus winner Cordell Marvin, McCallum didn’t sugarcoat it.
“They had to do what was best for them,” he said. “I just hope for their sakes they don’t end up on the other side of us next season. ’Cause we ain’t gonna hold back.”
Marvin was the most notable name in the portal, joined by TE Dawann Rochell and DE Eric DuBoise, all citing a desire to play for a more established head coach.
“No knock on Coach Hartline,” Marvin said, “but I wanted to be somewhere learning from a coach’s experience, not helping teach him what I already know.”
While McCallum’s announcement energized the crowd, another returning Chanticleer may prove just as crucial to Coastal’s 2035 hopes: quarterback Anthony Prude, who was reportedly inches from entering the portal before meeting with new head coach Brian Hartline.
“Prude had the paperwork ready,” said a source close to the new staff. “But once Coach Hartline laid out the vision and OC Connor McQueen walked him through the offense Prude bought in. He’s not going to just be a guy in this system. He’s the guy.
“They laid out Heisman-level production if he stayed. And with Prude being only a redshirt freshman, they sold him on giving Conway one more run before considering the portal for his final one or two years.”
For those departing, the Teal Farewell came with mixed emotions. Veterans like Carl Urbik, a key pieces of Coastal’s back-to-back national titles, found themselves celebrating past triumphs while still processing a season that ended one step short.
“We thought we had it,” Urbik said of the would-be three-peat. “It still feels like we should be out there fighting. Feels like we let this community down. But now it’s about hoping the next guys can build on what we started.”
With a self-imposed portal ban blocking Coastal from replacing the departures through transfers, the staff now turns fully toward high school recruiting. With several Top-50 prospects still uncommitted, Hartline sounded confident in his ability to close fast.
“I’ve got a history of snagging some late recruits,” he said with a grin. “We’ll see if that magic followed me to Conway.”
