Nice bounce back win. Every pitcher stepped up. Chapman is just setting the stage for his biggest bet of blowing a game 7.

Boston, MA. - After the Boston Red Sox stunned the baseball world by swiping Game 1 at Dodger Stadium, the momentum that once fueled their October surge has steadily faded. Jarren Duran’s record-setting start kept Boston afloat early, and the Sox clawed their way to a 2–2 split heading into a pivotal Game 5.

But as the series has stretched on, the gap between these two teams has become harder to ignore. Without near perfect performances from their top stars, Boston is showing signs of fatigue, while the Dodgers are beginning to look every bit like the defending champions.

Shohei Ohtani, who struggled both on the mound and at the plate in Game 1, delivered a full force reminder of his MVP stature in Game 5. The two way superstar struck out seven over nearly six innings and launched two homers with three RBIs, powering Los Angeles to within one win of back to back World Series titles, a result that suddenly feels inevitable.

“When the road team wins Game 5, they take the series 74% of the time,” John Smoltz noted on the broadcast. “For Boston to come back, they’d need multiple David Ortiz–level performances. I just don’t see it.”

The Red Sox depth, a major strength throughout the ALDS and ALCS, has vanished at the worst time. Rookie standouts Carlos Narvaez and Kristian Campbell, electric in earlier rounds, have crashed back to earth with just four combined hits and zero RBIs or extra base hits in the World Series. Add in near total silence from the bottom third of the order, and Boston’s offensive outlook is bleak.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers weathered early slumps from Mookie Betts and Ohtani by leaning on Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman, and now that their superstars have awakened, L.A. looks like a fully operational juggernaut. The seven run outburst in Game 5 could be the clearest sign yet that the champs are peaking at the right time.

Facing elimination in Game 6, Alex Cora wasted no time naming his starter: MVP and Cy Young winner Garrett Crochet will take the ball in Los Angeles.

“We can’t save him for a Game 7 we might not reach,” Cora said. “So yeah. He’s going.”

The Dodgers will counter with Yoshinobu Yamamoto as they aim to become the first team to repeat as champions since the early 2000s Yankees.

Devers continued his hot hitting in the 1st inning, but the Sox cooled off considerably as the game wore on.

Ceddanne Rafaela is in the game for his glove, but brutally misplayed this single that turned into an inside the park home run for Teoscar Hernandez.

Los Angeles, CA. - The Los Angeles Dodgers are officially in dynasty territory. With a 2–0 win in Game 6, L.A. secured back-to-back World Series titles, joining the New York Yankees as the only franchise since 2000 to repeat as champions.

For Boston, the story of the night was missed opportunities and the brilliance of a tired ace. Garrett Crochet, pitching on short rest, was electric from the first pitch, striking out 14 and allowing just two runs. But a rare first-inning walk opened the door for the Dodgers to strike first, and a late solo homer provided insurance that ultimately wasn’t needed.

Both teams loaded the bases in the opening inning, but only one capitalized.

Boston had its chance to seize momentum early: an Alex Bregman single, followed by walks to Roman Anthony and Carlos Narvaez, put immediate pressure on Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But with two outs, Trevor Story chased an 0–2 curveball, ending the threat and drawing an uncharacteristic fist pump from the Dodgers starter.

Los Angeles answered with just enough execution. Freddie Freeman drew a leadoff walk, Andy Pages singled, and after Shohei Ohtani struck out, Mookie Betts dropped in a bloop single to load the bases. Teoscar Hernández lifted a deep enough fly ball to bring Freeman home, and while Crochet struck out Will Smith to limit the damage, the Dodgers had the only run they’d need.

From there, the Red Sox never put another runner in scoring position.

“Garrett pitched his heart out,” Jarren Duran said postgame. “You get a guy who gives up two runs and punches out 14, that’s everything you could ask for. We just couldn’t capitalize.”

Like the rest of the Boston offense, Duran cooled off after his blistering start to the series. Despite setting a new World Series record with 12 stolen bases, he managed just one hit and one steal in Games 5 and 6. a microcosm of Boston’s larger issues.

“Once you got past the top of the lineup, it was almost automatic outs,” Pedro Martínez said during MLB Network’s coverage. “You can’t rely on three or four guys to carry the entire offense. Eventually, they’re going to have off nights. and we saw the result.”

The Dodgers, meanwhile, didn’t blink. With a deep roster, timely execution, and a two-way superstar leading the way, Los Angeles proved once again why they’re the modern standard for sustained excellence.

Shohei Ohtani was named the World Series MVP with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs while also notching the critical Game 5 win behind 7 strikeouts.

Crochet gave everything he had with 14 strikeouts against just four hits, but two earned runs gave LA all the cushion they would need.
