Boston, MA. - The last time the Fall Classic came to Fenway Park, Mookie Betts was helping the Red Sox raise the 2018 trophy. This time, he was the one silencing the crowd. Betts delivered a crushing game-tying home run in the ninth off Aroldis Chapman, the first blow in a three run Dodgers rally, as Los Angeles stormed back to steal Game 3 and take a 2–1 lead in the World Series.
The collapse overshadowed a brilliant night from Boston’s ace. Garrett Crochet dominated, scattering two hits over six scoreless innings and striking out 11, seemingly putting the Red Sox in prime position to claim control of the series.
Rafael Devers opened the scoring with a 442-foot blast to dead center, a thunderous swing that electrified Fenway. But from that point on, Boston’s offense stalled while the Dodgers spent inning after inning threatening to break through.
L.A. finally scratched a run across in the eighth, but Garrett Whitlock buckled down and struck out Shohei Ohtani, who continues to search for answers at the plate, to preserve the 1–0 lead.
Then came the ninth. Down to his last strike, Betts erased the advantage with a no-doubt blast to left, flipping the momentum and breaking Boston hearts in one swing.
“I loved playing here, still love coming here as a visitor, even if they’re a lot less welcoming,” Betts joked afterward. “But yeah, coming up big in that moment feels good.”
With the series suddenly tilting toward Los Angeles, the Red Sox now turn to George Kirby on short rest opposite Ohtani in Game 4, a matchup they desperately need to win to avoid a 3–1 hole.

Crochet was his dominant self again, but it wasn't enough to keep the Sox from dropping their 2nd straight World Series contest.

Devers flexing after his 442ft blast to dead center field gave Boston the early lead.

Betts started the scoring, but Muncy ended it with a 2 RBI double to chase Chapman and break the tie.

You didn't do it right. You're supposed to get the lead and NOT blow it.

Boston, MA. - “We needed this one. I needed this bounce back,” Aroldis Chapman said through a translator after slamming the door with three strikeouts, including Shohei Ohtani, to seal Game 4 and pull the World Series even at two games apiece. One night after blowing the save, the veteran closer made sure the series will return to Los Angeles.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts raised eyebrows by starting Tyler Glasnow instead of MVP Ohtani, and the move unraveled immediately. Jarren Duran stayed unconscious at the plate and on the bases, singling and swiping yet another bag before rookie Roman Anthony punched a single down the right-field line to bring him home.
Rafael Devers followed by turning a 3–2 slider into a 428 foot rocket into the right field seats, giving Boston an early 3–0 lead.
George Kirby, working on short rest, gave the Red Sox what they needed: three gritty innings with seven strikeouts. But a bloop single set the stage for Ohtani, who snapped out of his slump by hooking a two-run line drive around Pesky’s Pole. Kirby faced two more hitters before exiting with back tightness, a precaution, Alex Cora said.
“He’d just given up the homer. Pitching through discomfort with their momentum building wasn’t going to help anybody,” Cora explained. “He’ll be ready if we need him later.”
From there, Boston’s bullpen delivered its best showing of the series. Hunter Dobbins was brilliant, retiring every batter he faced across nearly four perfect innings before José Leclerc and Chapman finished the job.
“We weren’t about to let them celebrate in our house,” said Anthony, who drove in two more runs and now has 12 postseason RBIs. “Now the goal is to pop bottles in their clubhouse.”
Game 5, the final game at Fenway, will feature Brayan Bello against Ohtani in a pivotal swing game before the series shifts back to L.A.

Ohtani slammed the Dodgers closer, but the hits didn't keep coming for LA as they wouldn't reach base again.

Chapman redeemed himself by striking out the side to close out Game 4.

Nice bounce back win. Every pitcher stepped up. Chapman is just setting the stage for his biggest bet of blowing a game 7.
