The pace you move at is neck breaking. 4-0 start is legit
2nd half of the season is the real test. Miami & Notre Dame back to back. If we can split those we're still in good shape to make the playoff - if we drop both its an uphill climb. I thought about splitting them up but FUCK IT
We win't duckin the smoke

Yep his 2nd season. Last year he beat the Ducks in the Pac-12 Championship game to end their undefeated season and knock them out of the CFP entirely

Los Angeles, CA. - So much for jet lag. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers rolled into Los Angeles and rolled right over the USC Trojans, dropping 57 points in a dominant rout that sent Dan Lanning’s team tumbling to 2-2 in his second year at the helm.

An unusual downpour in Southern California didn’t dampen Coastal’s fire. On their opening drive, Dareon Doctson capped a methodical march with an 8-yard score, then electrified the Coliseum moments later with a 54-yard punt return touchdown that stunned the home crowd and gave Coastal a quick 14-0 edge.

USC clawed back with a steady 11-play response, as Johnny Biggs piled up 54 yards and punched in a 10-yard touchdown. A Bryce Underwood red-zone interception gave the Trojans more hope, but just as quickly, Coastal’s defense turned the tide. Trojans quarterback Javier Velasco was drilled by DT Kevin Wynn, coughing the ball straight into the arms of linebacker Walt Reyna, who trotted in for a 25-yard snatch-and-score.

Velasco answered by finding Ezekiel Kukwa on a slashing catch-and-run to trim the deficit, but Coastal had the last word of the half. In under a minute, Underwood engineered an 80-yard drive, finishing it himself with a quick touchdown run to put Coastal ahead 31-14 at the break.

From there, it was all teal. The Chanticleers blanked USC in the second half while tacking on 26 more points, Underwood and Doctson continuing to shred the Trojans from every angle and the Chanticleers defense refused to budge. The final: 57-14 Coastal, a fifth straight win to open the season.

“I almost don’t want the bye at this point,” Kade Vaughn said with a grin afterward. “It was designed to give us a breather after a West Coast trip, but heck, I feel like we could storm Hard Rock Stadium tomorrow.”

Instead, Coastal will take the week to regroup before heading south for their biggest challenge yet: a primetime clash with the defending national champion Miami Hurricanes.

Miami, FL. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers spent all of last year hearing that their dominance was a byproduct of a “soft Sun Belt schedule.” So, in their nomadic 2028 slate, they loaded the gauntlet with blue bloods and champions, daring critics to move the goalposts again. Saturday night in Miami, they delivered their loudest statement yet — walking into Hard Rock Stadium and outpacing the defending national champion Hurricanes, who boasted the nation’s top-ranked defense, in a 59-34 showcase of firepower.

Coastal piled up a staggering 688 yards of offense, with Heisman winner Bryce “Big Game” Underwood accounting for six touchdowns and 446 total yards.

“We call him Big Game around here now,” grinned head coach Kade Vaughn after the win. “He steps up in big games and he thrives against the big game.” The double meaning wasn’t lost: Coastal’s locker room already features five mounted mascot busts from this year’s victims, with Miami soon to join the hunting wall.

Vaughn even let his swagger slip in the locker room celebration: “$1,000 to anyone who can get me that turnover chain!” he shouted, before catching the cameras and smirking, “Figuratively, of course.”

On the field, Coastal wasted no time. A 10-play opening drive capped by a Dareon Doctson touchdown set the tone. Every time Miami struck back, the Chants landed harder — racing out to a 28-10 lead, watching it trimmed to 38-27 after a kickoff return and Underwood fumble, then burying the Hurricanes with back-to-back scores to put the game out of reach.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal summed it up bluntly: “Not enough consistency. We hit the big plays, but we couldn’t sustain drives. Against a rolling offense like that, you’ve got to stay on the field.”

The night was another showcase for Coastal’s evolving balance. Underwood dazzled with 332 passing yards, 114 rushing, and six touchdowns, while Doctson bulldozed for 204 rushing yards and two more scores.

“This is a different Coastal offense,” said Kirk Herbstreit late in the broadcast. “Last year it all lived and died with Bryce. This year? They’ve got versatility. They can line up with three backs and slice you any which way. If they stay healthy, don’t be surprised if we’re talking about them in Tampa come January.”

Vaughn was more subdued in his postgame presser. “Look — job’s not finished,” he said, echoing the mantra he’s leaned on since spring ball. “We’re taking care of business, stacking trophies on the wall, but the hunt doesn’t end until we hoist that gold one.”

Now 6-0, Coastal leaves South Beach behind for another measuring stick game, this time beneath Touchdown Jesus in South Bend, where they’ll try to hand the No. 14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish their second straight defeat.

Image
Doctson embarcing the villain role as he taunted the Canes fans following his 3rd Q score.

Image
Big plays were there for the Hurricanes, but consistency lacked and kept them from ever really threatening the Chanticleers in the 2nd half.

Image
One constant was the blocking, or lack thereof, for QB Juan Uzomah who absorbed 5 sacks in the loss.
