It's a rivalry game - records don't matter.
But we gonna beat the piss out dem boys for passing on my boy
I almost said defense stays hard in the A

Definitely needed him too. Don't know what's up with Ro this season but he keeps straddling the line of getting benched. Tad threw a pair of picks, but also tossed the best deep ball of the season

to be fair the SBC got considerably weaker in the offseason and we got stronger. Every team dropped by at least 5 points while we raised up 5 points - so 10 point swing. Winning the SBC was expected - not getting smashed if we make a major bowl is the goal this year.YaBoyRobRoy wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025, 11:08you got them boys rolling! Solid 9-0 start, let's make it 10!

Coach Vaughn Joins "Chants Up!"
By The Teal Wave - November 2026
Ripp Hamilton: What’s up, Teal Nation! I’m Ripp Hamilton, still running on cold brew and Coastal football, and the vibes in Conway have never been hotter. Your Chanticleers are 9‑0, sitting at No. 11 in the CFP poll, and the man behind the headset is back in the studio. Coach Kade Vaughn—good to have you again.
Kade Vaughn: Always a pleasure, Ripp. Let’s get to it.
RH: The latest rankings had half the campus chanting “Why not us?” How do you keep that excitement from turning into complacency?
KV: We acknowledge the ranking—it’s hard to ignore—but then we frame it: it’s a progress report, not a prize. If we lose focus for even one quarter, that number next to our name disappears. App State is the only thing on the schedule right now.
RH: One‑loss Group of Five teams rarely get a mulligan.
KV: Exactly. The big conferences get cushion; we don’t. The equation is simple—keep the zero in the loss column, win the Sun Belt, and let the committee deal with the headache.
RH: Fans love to peek ahead: Arkansas State might be waiting in the title game. Any early read?
KV: Veteran defense, disciplined fronts. If that matchup happens, it’ll be physical. But I’ll worry about them when it’s official. Kobe said, “Job’s not finished,” and that’s our mindset.
RH: If Coastal punches that playoff ticket, are you ready for prime time?
KV: We beat both Carolinas; we won’t flinch under bright lights. Around here, we lean into the challenge.
RH: App State week. Some lingering tension from last year’s postgame comments. Does that fuel your guys?
KV: Rivalries are supposed to be edgy. I respect Coach Loggains, but my beef was with a program that passed on the homecoming story—twice. If things get chippy, we’ll answer, but between the whistles. I expect the same edge from App State after last year.
RH: Any pushback from the Coastal brass to tone it down?
KV: None. They hired me for honesty. As long as we respect the game and prepare the right way, they’re good.
RH: Speaking of preparation, recruiting is rolling. Edge rusher Reyna is officially on board—the highest‑ranked prospect in Coastal history at No. 112 overall. How does landing a guy like that change expectations inside the building?
KV: It raises the bar, plain and simple. When a top‑120 guy chooses Coastal, the locker room feels it. Players know elite talent expects elite habits—weight room, film sessions, nutrition. It also signals to future recruits that you can chase big goals here instead of somewhere else. So yes, expectations rise, and I’m good with that. Steel sharpens steel.
RH: And four‑star WR Terron Clemons has Coastal in his top three. Does Reyna’s commitment help that pitch?
KV: Absolutely. Blue‑chip guys want proof of concept. Signing Reyna shows we’re serious about competing on a national scale. Terron sees that, and it matters.
RH: New Orleans QB Deon Cherry just committed. How does he fit your system?
KV: He can spin it—big arm, good touch. He's obviously got some room to grow and he’ll likely redshirt, but if circumstances change, we’ll coach him up quick.
RH: Tad Hudson got first‑team snaps in Atlanta while Roquan cooled off. Fans smelled controversy. What’s the real story?
KV: Roquan was pressing, so we hit pause and let Tad take a series. It gave Ro time to reset and gave us film on Tad. Ro’s still our guy, and—this part matters—he controls whether he stays the starter. His preparation, his performance, his demeanor all week decide that. If he handles business, the job’s his; if not, the depth chart stays fluid. Simple as that.
RH: Coach, appreciate the candor. Best of luck against the Mountaineers—Conway will be rocking.
KV: Thanks, Ripp. See you after the game. Chants Up!

Conway, SC. - After a week full of bulletin board material and media jabs, including Dowell Loggains proclaiming his Mountaineers would show the App State fan base why they passed on Vaughn years ago, both teams finally hit the field. And when the dust — or rather, rain — settled in Conway, there was no doubt who got the last word.
Look away, Mountaineer faithful. If this is the reason you passed on Kade Vaughn, you made a critical mistake.
Fueled by the tension, Vaughn’s Chanticleer defense looked like a unit hell-bent on defending their coach’s honor. They swarmed true freshman quarterback Cole Burt — who added fuel to the fire earlier in the week by saying he didn’t “fear” Coastal’s No. 1-ranked defense — and left him battered and bruised with nine sacks in a 31–3 rout on The Teal.
Four sacks in the opening quarter set the tone in a rain-soaked Brooks Stadium, and App State’s only points came off a short field goal in the third quarter after Roquan Barber threw his 12th interception on the season.
While Barber’s turnover briefly gave the Mountaineers life, the junior quarterback responded with one of his most controlled performances in weeks. He connected on a pair of deep shots and kept the offense on schedule with timely scrambles and efficient passing.
“He didn’t say anything on Chants Up that he hasn’t told me in the huddle or behind closed doors,” Barber said postgame, referring to Vaughn’s comments challenging his quarterback to rise to the moment. “Coach has preached it since day one — put in the work, put up results, and you’ll play. I haven’t done my part lately, but there’s a lot of football left. I’m going to show why Coach brought me back.”
Barber finished 15-of-25 for 204 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, while adding 53 yards on the ground.
On the defensive side, LJ McCray continued his tear through the Sun Belt with three more sacks, tying Josiah Stewart’s single-season school record — with at least three games still to go.
“The question isn’t if he’s going to break it,” said defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson with a grin, one arm wrapped around McCray’s shoulder. “It’s how far he’s going to push it.”
“I’m thinking an even 20 sounds cool, Coach,” McCray replied with a laugh.
With the win, Coastal Carolina (10–0) officially clinched a spot in the Sun Belt Championship Game for the second straight season. They’ll stay at Brooks Stadium next week for Senior Night, hosting the 3–7 Texas State Bobcats.

Xakery Wiedner breaking free midway through the 1st to put the Coastal Carolina Chants up early.

Barber did enough to secure his job as QB1 for another week, but an ugly 3rd quarter interception marred an otherwise solid performance for the junior.
