Lakers unable to score when it counts, suffer loss in pool play to Phoenix
Costly turnovers lead to squandered opportunities in last game of road trip
Recap of Lakers/Suns game played on November 10, 2023

1st Quarter
The Lakers and Suns played their second game of the season and the first game in pool play for the NBA In-Season Tournament. Bradley Beal who did not suit up in the first contest back just a few weeks ago started tonight and impacted the game early on. Beal scored six points in the quarter, but the Lakers led after one, 23-22.

2nd Quarter
Both teams traded baskets early in the quarter, til the Lakers took control and pulled out to a seven-point lead, 39-32. Bradley Beal scored the Sun last nine points of the quarter as he pulled the Suns to within three heading into halftime, 48-45.

3rd Quarter
Bradley Beal continued his scoring attack as the second half started, scoring five points right out of the gate and giving the Suns the lead 50-48.
Grayson Allen knocked down consecutive three-pointers and the Suns extended their biggest lead of the game nine points, 63-54. A few minutes later the Suns took a ten-point lead 66-56. The Lakers ended the quarter on an 11-2 run including a three-pointer at the buzzer by Rui Hachimura, cutting the Suns lead down to one point going into the fourth quarter, 68-67.


4th Quarter
The Lakers took a three-point lead 80-77 on a layup by LeBron James, but Bradley Beal put the Suns on his back (figuratively) and scored six of the Sun final nine points in the game, including a jumper from the left corner that put the Suns up for good, 85-82. LeBron James would score on the Lakers next possession cutting the lead to 85-84, but Jusuf Nurkic hit one of two free throws to give the Suns an 86-84. With ten seconds left LeBron James drove and the ball was knocked loose and fell into the hands of Austin Reaves who put up a jumper at the buzzer that went in and out and the Suns held on for an 86-84 win over the Lakers.

Lakers get back on winning track as LeBron sits against Portland
Returning to home just what the Lakers needed
Recap of Trail Blazers/Lakers game played on November 12, 2023

1st Quarter
LeBron James sat out tonight's game against Portland. Jerami Grant led the charge in the first quarter against the Lakers. Grant knocked down two three-pointers early in the quarter, helping Portland out to a quick 18-15 lead, but Cam Reddish who was inserted into the starting lineup against Phoenix finished the first quarter strong, helping the Lakers take a 24-22 lead.

2nd Quarter
Both teams were having a hard time scoring in the second quarter. Jerami Grant continued to lead the Blazers offense as the Lakers looked to a host of role players to keep them in the game. Rui Hachimura, Taurean Prince and D'Angelo Russell kept Portland from getting out to any sizeable lead. The Lakers led by as many as seven points in the quarter before Skylar Mays knocked down two free throws cutting the lead to five, 45-40 going into halftime.

3rd Quarter
Cam Reddish began the second half the way he did the first half, aggressive and scoring in timely situations. Both teams found their offense in this quarter. The Lakers took their biggest lead of the game to that point, nine points on a three-point play by Reddish, 63-54. A three-pointer by Skylar Mays cut the Lakers lead down to two, 72-70, but Anthony Davis scored on a layup and Austin Reaves knocked down a three-pointer to close out the quarter and push the Lakers lead back to seven, 77-70.

4th Quarter
Portland scored the first six points of the fourth quarter, quickly cutting the Lakers lead to one, 77-76. Eventually thanks to Jerami Grant the Blazers tied the game and took the lead 85-82. The Lakers would finish the game with a 14-4 run, erasing the Blazers three-point lead and coming out with a 96-89 win remaining undefeated at home this year.

Lakers defeat injury plagued Grizzlies in pool play matchup
LeBron returns from one game absence, eight Lakers score in double figures
Recap of Grizzlies/Lakers game played on November 14, 2023

1st Quarter
The Grizzlies got off to a hot start, scoring the first eight points of the game on their way to a quick 8-0 lead, but the Lakers regrouped and and following an Anthony Davis three-point play took the lead 14-12. The Lakers extended their lead to seven points at one point, 27-20, before ending the first quarter up 29-23.

2nd Quarter
As the second quarter got underway the Lakers continued to extend their lead, having everyone playing a pivotal role, making the extra pass, helping on the defensive end. Christian Wood nailed a three-pointer to give the Lakers their biggest lead of the game to that point, 57-37. The Grizzlies ended the quarter on a 12-4 run to cut the Lakers lead down to fourteen heading into the half, 61-49.

3rd Quarter
The Grizzlies were able to come out and get a jump on the Lakers, cutting their lead to single digits at 64-55 after Desmond Bane knocked down a jumpshot. Despite their best efforts though, the Lakers continued to do the small things that got them a twenty-point lead and held off the Grizzlies just when it seemed they were poised to make a run. Taurean Prince hit a three-pointer that put the Lakers back up by sixteen, 81-65 and the Lakers headed into the fourth quarter with a thirteen-point lead, 95-82.

4th Quarter
The Lakers pushed their lead back up to twenty, 106-86 in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies attempted one last final run to get back to within striking distance with an 11-3 run, trimming the Lakers lead down to twelve, 109-97. The Lakers responded and stopped the Grizzlies run, even though the Grizzlies cut the Lakers lead down to eight points, 115-107. The Lakers held on and got their first pool play win in the In-Season Tournament by the final of 117-110.
