Time to get back into America's game. Cardinal fans are getting ready for some dark times ahead with the rebuild but maybe we can make it a little more fun in The Show. I am going to try keeping it close to realistic for the Cardinals so I will not be spending money on huge free agents right away, even though the budget is there. The focus to start is on building the farm system, using the young talent and adding some veteran pieces to fit.
System: PS5
Style: Classic timing for hitting, pulse for pitching
Schedule: Play one game, sim 5 with the game entry system. If it is a 1 run game after 7, I will step in. I am going to try this out instead of straight sim, unless it turns into playing every single game then I will adjust the sim settings.

THE NEW CARDINAL WAY: BLOOM BEGINS A MODERN REBUILD IN ST. LOUIS
St. Louis — Sports Illustrated | March 15, 2025

The old era ended quietly, almost inevitably. After consecutive seasons marked by inconsistency, misfires, and a club drifting without a clear identity, the Cardinals made their first emphatic move of the Bloom administration: Oliver Marmol is out, and the search for a new leadership core has begun.
For a franchise that has prided itself on stability, the shake-up feels seismic. But for new chairman Chaim Bloom, this is not a teardown—it’s a recalibration. A reset. The beginning of something he calls “The New Cardinal Way.” A blend of player-friendly leadership, modern evaluation, and the same organizational pride that has hung eleven World Series banners in Busch Stadium.
A Roster at a Crossroads
The Cardinals enter the 2025 campaign with a roster rich in youth and possibility. Shortstop Masyn Winn headlines the movement—an electrifying defender whose bat
continues to mature. Top prospect JJ Wetherholt joins him as the franchise’s most polished incoming hitter in years, a potential table-setter built for the modern game. And on the mound, the tandem of Tink Hence and Michael McGreevy represents the foundation of a homegrown rotation the Cardinals have been chasing for half a decade.
The pieces are there: athleticism, arms, upside, and a farm system finally producing impact talent. What’s missing is direction and a veteran to lead into the new era.
Bloom’s Search for a New Voice
Bloom’s first task is his most important—finding a manager and coaching staff capable of shaping this next era. And early conversations suggest a willingness to turn back to the people who once defined the Cardinals’ identity on the field. The same people who developed the original "Cardinal Way."
Rumors have been swirling of who the new manager might be. Yadier Molina is a favorite, someone who has expressed interest in taking the position and fans love. The downside is that Molina is inexperienced, has played with some of these players and it might be too soon to put him in this position.
Matt Holliday is another player that has expressed interest in managing but many think Holiday is better suited as a hitting coach and not a manager.
Chris Carpenter was one of the last of his breed. A hard-nosed, no nonsense starting pitcher that was angry if he did not go past the 7th.
Skip Schumaker, a former player and fan favorite who is already managing in the majors and has experience. Those behind the scenes say Skip would jump at the chance to come back to St. Louis and help rebuild what was once a great franchise.
Bloom is expected to build a staff with modern hitting expertise, aggressive pitcher development, and a leadership group that believes in molding the organization’s young core rather than simply patching holes.
A Franchise Reborn
For the first time in years, the Cardinals’ future feels open instead of predetermined. It’s a roster full of young energy and a front office ready to reinvent the blueprint. The new staff—whoever they become—will inherit talent, expectation, and a city that demands relevance. A city that wants to embrace winners and the old fashion feeling of baseball. Pitchers that go deep into games, runs earned with hits and not just the long ball. Fans that love the small ball and embrace the flash.
This isn’t just a managerial search. It’s the birth of The New Cardinal Way—a philosophy that blends tradition with transformation, built on the belief that the franchise’s next championship won’t come from nostalgia, but from evolution.
And in St. Louis, the evolution has officially begun.

He will be given a chance for sure.
But Larry Walker isn’t a bad shout for manager either.
