Got to take em when we can. Easy rivalry game against Liberty, tough stretch against OU/Clemson then we can coast vs the lower end of the ACC after the bye. If we can split with OK and Clemson we'll be set come playoff/CCG timeCaptain Canada wrote: ↑12 Sep 2025, 09:00Tough to drop that Ohio State game but that bounce back to right the ship was needed

Conway, SC. - The roller coaster continued for Coastal Carolina, but this week the highs easily outweighed the lows. The Chanticleers offense ran at peak efficiency, piling up 77 points in a 77–35 demolition of Liberty. The defense chipped in with seven sacks, two turnovers, and held the Flames to just seven points after halftime. The blemish? A first half air raid that saw Boogie Choice and Jay Jay Brake connect at will for 298 of Choice’s 455 passing yards.
After watching their secondary get picked apart, DC Tony White once again dialed up the bend-don’t-break philosophy that saved them against Florida State. “Hard to say if this is where we’ll have to settle this season,” White admitted afterward. “But the results from the last two weeks speak volumes.”
The other postgame storyline was the icy exchange at midfield. Liberty head coach Ray Sharp refused to shake Kade Vaughn’s hand after the Chanticleers capped the night with a last-second touchdown pass. Vaughn brushed it off. “He wasn’t too happy about the late touchdown,” Vaughn conceded. “I told him it was a freshman QB running a real two-minute drill. Couldn’t pass up the experience. He called it bush league, I called him another word for a cat, and that about ended it.”
That “freshman QB” was highly touted 4-star Fredrick Meredith, the presumed heir to Nick Golladay. The Conway crowd got their first real look at him, and he didn’t disappoint: 6-for-10, two touchdowns, and flashes of why the staff is so high on him. Meredith dropped a perfectly placed 68-yard seam ball to Percy LaRue, then followed it with a highlight-worthy lob to Kamryn Petty down the sideline (wiped out by a hold, but it still drew gasps).
With Liberty dispatched and the rivalry once again lopsided, Coastal now turns to its last non-conference test: a visit from the 16th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (4–1), a matchup that should reveal whether the Chants’ bend-don’t-break defense can hold up against another elite passing attack.

Fredrick Meredith's 1st TD pass as a Chanticleer was a beautifully placed seam pass to Percy LaRue who did the rest. Meredith would finish with a pair of touchdowns on 6/10 passing to go with a complete of key scrambles on 3rd down.

Boogie Choice broke out of the sack and hit Jay Jay Brake for the duos 2nd TD of the 1st half. But after the half the near sacks turned into real ones as Liberty's flame waned.

Went from having an 80 overall offense as a top 5 defense in the country, to a 94 overall offense not being able to hold a QB under 300 passing yards.
idk what to do

Chanticleers Survive Sooners 2nd Half Rally

A pick six by Oklahoma as Nick Golladay attempted to ice the game brought the Sooners within 3, but Golladay would respond with a clock killing drive to erase any hope of a miracle 4th quarter comeback for Oklahoma QB Moses Ezekiel.

Coway, SC. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers held off a furious second-half rally from the Oklahoma Sooners, escaping with a 41-35 win to improve to 5-1 and extend their winning streak to three.
Coastal jumped out to a commanding start, capitalizing on a pair of Oklahoma miscues. After marching down the field for an opening touchdown, the Chants pounced on a fumble during the ensuing kickoff. Before the Sooners’ offense even touched the field, they were already down 14-0. When quarterback Moses Ezekiel finally did get his chance, his first real shot at points ended in disaster — an interception in the end zone by free safety AJ Dwumfour. A few plays later, a 46-yard strike to tight end Percy LaRue set up another score, pushing the lead to 21-0 midway through the first.
Oklahoma answered with a 38-yard touchdown, but both defenses tightened as the game slowed. The second quarter produced just a pair of field goals — one for each side — leaving Coastal up 24-10 at halftime.
Momentum swung hard out of the break. Oklahoma’s no-huddle offense caught the Chanticleers scrambling, and Ezekiel found LaMichael Trapp for an uncovered 22-yard touchdown. Another field goal made it 24-20 entering the fourth.
That’s when Coastal finally punched back. Nick Golladay capped a 12-play drive with an 11-yard touchdown run, then All-NCAA linebacker Walt Reyna intercepted Ezekiel on the very next play. A quick Coastal touchdown suddenly made it 38-20.
The Sooners refused to fold. Patrick Wedington slashed through the defense for an 87-yard touchdown run to cut the gap, and with time winding down in the 4th Q Golladay’s off-balance throw sailed high, landing in the hands of Oklahoma safety Gerald Wolford. Wolford shrugged off three tackles — including a stiff-arm to Golladay himself — and returned it for a pick-six. The two-point try was good, and just like that the lead was down to three.
Needing a response, Golladay redeemed himself. He engineered a 10-play drive that chewed up three minutes, highlighted by a 31-yard completion to LaRue on 2nd-and-19 after audibling out of a run call. With 43 seconds left and facing 4th-and-6, head coach Kade Vaughn sent out the field goal unit to make it a six-point game.
“A first down ends it, but a failed conversion gives them hope,” Vaughn explained. “We wanted to make it touchdown or bust — not let one fluke play send it to overtime.”
The plan worked. With no timeouts and 37 seconds remaining, Oklahoma managed just three short completions before the clock hit zero.
“You live and learn,” Golladay said afterward about his costly pick-six. “Coach had a long talk with me — don’t play hero ball. If I take a sack there, it’s not good, but at least they have to earn it back.”
Despite allowing over 300 passing yards yet again, Coastal’s defense made the Sooners work, piling up five sacks and forcing two turnovers.
“Yards are yards,” defensive coordinator Tony White deadpanned. “Outside of that opening drive in the second half and the 87-yarder, we made them earn everything.”
The Chants now turn their attention to a pivotal in-state clash with Clemson, bringing with them momentum, a three-game win streak, and at least the hint of a fix for their shaky pass defense.

Golladay continues to grow more comfortable in Kade Vaughn's dynamic offense and late pick six aside, played another fantastic game as he kept the Sooners off balance.

Oklahoma's aggressive no-huddle caught the Chanticleers out of position many a time - none more glaring than this 22 yard touchdown to open the 2nd half.

Don Vasher tallied 3 sacks as the Chanticleers defense made sure that every throw Moses Ezekiel made was under pressure.
