Lakers offense comes alive in much needed win over 76ers

Lakers inch closer to clinching playoff spot

The Lakers have struggled as of late and are sliding down the Western Conference laddar. A monsterous slam dunk by LeBron James brought the crowd to its feet as the Lakers led 10-6, but the 76ers got back-to-back three-pointers from Tobias Harris that started a 14-0 run as the 76ers took the lead 20-12. D'Angelo Russell knocked down three of four free throws at the end of the quarter, but the 76ers remained in the lead 27-20.

The second quarter was a vastly different story than the first. The 76ers went up by nine, 34-25 when Cameron Payne knocked down a three-pointer and then the Lakers offense started rolling. The Lakers went on a 15-4 run to take the lead back 40-38. Tyrese Maxey tied the game at 40-40. The Lakers ended the first half on a 16-5 run and led 56-43 at the break.

The Lakers continued to extend their lead in the third quarter. A layup by Tyrese Maxey early in the quarter cut the lead down to six points, 56-50, but a three-point play by LeBron James pushed the lead back to double digits, 64-53. A three-pointer by Cam Reddish late in the quarter and jumpshot by Anthony Davis gave the Lakers a comfortable eighteen point lead going into the fourth quarter, 85-67.

The Lakers got a much needed win over the 76ers. At one time in the fourth quarter both teams combined to hit seven straight three-point shots, but in the end the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 120-90.

The Indiana Pacers came out in the first quarter on fire. The last eight shots they made in the quarter were all three-point shots. After a Taurean Prince slam dunk cut the lead down to four, 28-24, the Pacers hit three three-pointers to end the quarter with a 37-24 lead.

The Lakers responded well in the second quarter trailing by 13. The Pacers lead got to be as many as eighteen points early on, 42-24. Tyrese Haliburton hit a three-pointer that gave the Pacers and 47-31 lead. The Lakers then went on a 15-0 run capped of by a Anthony Davis jumpshot that brought them to within one, 47-46. Davis hit two free throws near the end of the quarter, giving the Pacers only a 51-50 lead. Myles Turner's slam dunk with fifteen seconds left help the Pacers go into halftime up by three, 53-50.

The third quarter was an action packed back and forth battle. A three-pointer by LeBron James gave the Lakers their first lead since the first quarter, 71-69. The Pacers tied the game and took the lead on a pair of Andrew Nembhard free throws, 75-74. A slam dunk by Taurean Prince tied the game for the Lakers 81-81. Ben Sheppard knocked in a three-pointer to close out the third quarter and give the Pacers a three-point lead, 88-85.

The fourth quarter was filled with excitment on both ends. The Pacers pushed their lead to eight points on a Doug McDermott three-pointer, 97-89. The Lakers tied the game up 97-97 going on an 8-0 run. The Pacers once again started to get hot from behind the three-point line, but the Lakers were able to withstand the long range shooting. Spencer Dinwiddie's layup tied the game at 114-114. The Lakers had the ball out of bounds with two seconds left on the clock but were unable to get a shot up, forcing overtime.
