Orlando, FL. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers kicked off the Brian Hartline era with a statement win in Orlando, burying defending National Champion Ole Miss behind seven total touchdowns from sophomore Anthony Prude.

"We warned everybody all offseason this was coming," Prude laughed after the game. "Who gonna come get the next BTA?"

Coastal's new Air Raid offense looked nearly unstoppable as Prude shredded the Rebels defense for 442 passing yards and five touchdowns while adding two more scores on the ground. Receivers Morgan Briggs (9 rec, 165 yards, 2 TDs) and Marco Sawyer (7 rec, 79 yards, TD) looked every bit as explosive as advertised, while last year's Heisman winner Fredrick McCallum showed he can thrive in the pass-heavy scheme, hauling in 10 receptions for 119 yards.

"Get him the ball in a variety of ways," offensive coordinator Connor McQueen explained when asked how the Chanticleers would utilize McCallum. "He's a dynamic athlete and you saw that today."

The first outing for newly hired DC Walt Reyna's unit was solid, if shaky at times. A pair of long touchdowns, including a 75-yarder on blown coverage, allowed Ole Miss to hang around. But halftime adjustments held the Rebels to just 72 yards and zero points in the second half.

With his first win already in hand, Brian Hartline will lead the Chanticleers into their ACC opener next week as they travel to Durham to face the Duke Blue Devils (1-0).

yessir :melo2: needed to get off on the right foot. Ohio State could easily humble us in Week 3 and starting 1-2 would not be a good look

thanks for checking in man!

Durham, NC. - Coastal Carolina’s aerial assault didn’t cool off in Week 2, unleashing another fireworks show, this time in Durham, as the Chanticleers hammered Duke with 56 first half points behind another blistering outing from quarterback Anthony Prude.

Prude didn’t even see the field after halftime, yet still shredded the Blue Devils for 382 yards and six touchdowns on just 20 completions, looking downright unstoppable inside Wallace Wade Stadium.

“I told y’all, we handin’ ’em out this year. Ohio State next!” the electric sophomore said, grinning as he jogged off the field.

As usual, Prude’s top targets delivered plenty of fireworks of their own. Morgan Briggs caught five passes for 97 yards and three scores, while Marco Sawyer torched Duke’s secondary for 195 yards and two touchdowns on seven grabs. And in the ultimate “do-everything” performance, former Heisman winner Fredrick McCallum found the end zone three different ways with a receiving touchdown, a punt-return touchdown, and a rushing score.

“Just trying to get my hands on the football and make plays,” McCallum said of his expanded role.

Defensively, the Chanticleers looked dominant in stretches and leaky in others, surrendering a pair of long touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters but smothering everything in between. The final stat line was still overwhelming: four sacks, one interception, and a staggering seventeen tackles for loss.

When asked about the lopsided score, head coach Brian Hartline didn’t bite.

“No running it up, we’re just making sure we’re clean and on the same page for next week,” he said.

Next week, of course, is the one circled months in advance: Hartline’s return to Ohio Stadium, and a matchup both programs have been waiting for.

oh man these Chanticleers are looking dangerous to start the Hartline era. Love the SEC expansion, solid moves like you said to keep all three leagues competitive. But the SEC just got a whole lot deeper and stronger.
