indeed. Is our 4* true freshman going to be the answer at QB, can we get an improved secondary? Those are the two most pressing needs for me. Pass rush is 3rd, offensive line 4th. I like my WRs just wish we had more speed.
Of course, if Barkow leaves for the Draft along with a few others we might be in trouble

Full Circle - Chants Bid Farewell To Some of Vaughn's 1st Signees

Dalton Dexter celebrating his 1st INT as a true freshman.
Conway, SC. - “Four years ago, these young men believed in me,” began a heartfelt Kade Vaughn at Coastal Carolina’s annual Teal Farewell — a new end-of-season celebration that Vaughn started last season to honor the seniors and early NFL Draft entrants moving on from Conway.
“They believed in a coach who was handed a roster at the last minute and somehow made some magic happen. They believed the magic could continue, and more importantly, they believed they could help take it to new heights.
“There may have been flashier players over the years, but nobody put their heart and soul into this program like Dalton and Darrion.”
The spotlight fell on safety Dalton Dexter and defensive end Darrion Hammer, the two most celebrated prep recruits of Vaughn's inaugural recruiting class to see their entire careers through at Coastal. Both were Day 1 starters in 2026 and central figures in the Chanticleers’ rise to a 2028 national title.
Hammer graduates as one of the most feared pass rushers in program history, tallying 107 tackles, 62 tackles for loss, and a school-record 28.5 sacks. Dexter leaves with equally imposing numbers: 325 total tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 8 interceptions.
Tight end Trishtin Glass was also celebrated as one of the signature examples of Vaughn’s “if you make plays, we’ll find you a role” philosophy. A former wideout turned tight end, Glass blossomed into a matchup nightmare. After an initial 41 catches for 482 yards and six scores as a receiver, his production skyrocketed at tight end: 176 receptions, 2,383 yards, and 37 total touchdowns over three seasons. He never captured the Mackey Award, but few in the country were more dangerous at the position.
In all, the Chanticleers are parting ways with 23 players — 20 graduates and three transfers — from a roster that returned to the CFP but fell short of defending its title. The Teal Farewell served as both a send-off and a reminder of how far Coastal Carolina has come in just four years under Vaughn, from an underdog story to a program with a legacy worth celebrating.

Coastal Finishes With Program Best 3rd Overall Recruiting Class

Conway, SC. - When DC Tony White learned that his former quarterback, Nick Golladay, had hit the transfer portal, he immediately picked up the phone and called Kade Vaughn.
“When one of my assistants calls me at 3 a.m. in the offseason, it better be important,” Vaughn joked when recounting how Golladay went from White’s QB1 at Memphis to Coastal’s new QB1 with White now serving as the Chanticleers’ defensive coordinator. Then, with a grin fading into seriousness, Vaughn added: “This was definitely important.”
Golladay, who started as a true freshman at Memphis under White, made his commitment official soon after. “Coach White believed in me from the start, and I trusted his vision then. I trust it now,” Golladay posted on X.
He headlines a transfer haul ranked 5th nationally — a nine-player class that includes Duke wideout Kamryn Petty, meant to inject badly needed explosiveness at receiver, and veteran HB Floyd Priest, who joins as the “Robin” to Sidney Barkow’s “Batman.”
“Sidney is the bell cow, no question,” Vaughn explained. “But you can’t win with just one guy in that room. Last year he wore down at times. Floyd gives us balance and keeps everyone fresh.”
Barkow, once a Heisman frontrunner, saw his candidacy derailed late in the season by a quiet finish against Liberty and nagging injuries in the Orange Bowl loss to Georgia. The hope is that a stronger supporting cast can keep him upright all year.
The bigger challenge lies on defense, where Coastal slipped dramatically last season and saw the Vaughn–Jeremiah Johnson partnership unravel. Johnson is now at Kansas State, while White arrives with the task of restoring the unit’s bite.
White isn’t coming alone. Linebackers Ty Oden and Evan Hemphill join Walt Reyna — the three-time Nagurski and Bednarik winner — to shore up the run defense. Up front, DT James Ruggins and DE Alfonso Smith arrive to replace departed All-American Darrion Hammer and help revive a pass rush that lacked consistency a year ago.
As strong as the portal was, Coastal’s prep recruiting might be even more impressive. Vaughn’s staff signed 21 high school prospects — 16 of them ranked in the Top 300 — including a staggering five 5-star recruits, the first in program history. When the final rankings dropped, the Chanticleers checked in at No. 3 nationally, by far the best prep haul in school history.
That list includes #4 overall Antonio Tripucka and #7 overall TE Jamal Stephen, both projected to be instant-impact players. The biggest surprise, however, was MLB Anthony Atogwe, the #10 overall prospect, who drifted away from BYU and Utah late in the cycle and landed in Conway.
“He wasn’t a guy we pushed hard for early,” Vaughn admitted. “But when other schools moved on, we stayed in it. He kept us on the board, and eventually, it just made sense for both sides.”
One under-the-radar gem could be Sean Maggio. At 6’3”, 207 pounds, he was initially recruited as a wide receiver but is expected to flip to free safety. “He’s obviously got the hips, instincts, and ball skills,” one scout noted. “He just needs a year to get his legs under him, but the tools are there for him to be special.”
With the transfer class ranked 5th, the overall class finishing 3rd, and a prep crop featuring five 5-stars, expectations are sky-high in Conway. The Chanticleers may not have been officially welcomed into the ACC just yet, but the roster Vaughn has built already looks like it belongs on the P5 stage.
