You might've won big but Mitch Power adding more credence to your defense being shaky, brodie

Great bounce back win though the defense is still a worry if you’re giving up 200+ to one receiver and 100+ to a running back. Prude might have to win some shootouts in the playoffs.

that TE prayed to the devil before this game. I had bracket coverage on that fool for the entire 2nd half and he still made circus catches :fml:

Yeah i was surprised that they ran for 100 too, first team this year to tag me for a hundo. But they were a Top 10 team. If NC State runs wild on us we got a problem

should be another easy win to continue dominating the Carolinas. Leota putting up pretty good numbers for the Wolfpack though

I thought he'd put up more of a fight, but his passing attributes are garbage

Conway, SC. - On paper, this had all the ingredients of a classic trap game. NC State arrived in Conway riding a three-game win streak behind a quarterback capable of torching defenses with both his arm and legs. Coastal fans didn’t have to search far for reasons to worry, the 56 points surrendered at Virginia Tech were still fresh.

But any hint of an upset evaporated almost immediately. The Chanticleers stomped on the Wolfpack early and never let up.

Coastal opened with a clean touchdown drive capped by a 19 yard Fredrick McCallum scoring run. On NC State’s first offensive snap, everything unraveled. Quarterback Miles Leota’s high fastball landed in the arms of corner Channing Armour, who trotted untouched into the end zone for a pick six and a 14–0 lead.

Only a 61 yard touchdown on another busted coverage, a frustrating trend for this secondary, gave the Wolfpack anything to cling to. After NC State tacked on a late first half field goal to cut Coastal’s lead to 42–10, Anthony Prude fired his final throw of the day.

What was meant to be a routine quick slant to Braydon Tabor “just to stay in rhythm,” according to OC Tommy Rees, turned into the knockout blow. Tabor slipped between two defenders and rocketed up the seam for an 88 yard score.

By halftime, the competitive portion of the game was over. Coastal played its backups for the entire second half, while NC State kept its starters, including its All-ACC quarterback, on the field deep into the third quarter.

“You heard a lot last year about Coach Vaughn running up the score,” Marcus Freeman said afterward. “But then you look across and see their first team still out there down 30, taking deep shots.” When asked if he was implying poor sportsmanship, Freeman simply said he was “pointing out circumstance.”

McCallum finished with 112 yards on just nine carries, a light workload that might ding his Heisman résumé, though the junior wasn’t particularly bothered.

“I don’t need to take unnecessary hits just to chase 50 or 60 more yards,” McCallum said. “If they think I’m the best player in the country, they can look at everything I’ve already done. My resume speaks for itself”

In other news, the Louisville Cardinals officially secured their place opposite the Chanticleers in the ACC Championship Game after Miami suffered its second conference loss, this one to lowly North Carolina, and Louisville stormed back with a 21 point fourth-quarter rally to beat rival West Virginia.

Coastal stays on The Teal next week for Senior Night as the Chanticleers welcome a suddenly reeling Penn State team that’s dropped two straight, including a 34–27 overtime loss to Michigan State.

McCallum collected a pair of quick touchdowns before calling it a day in the blowout victory.

Eventually the secondary has to cover guys...right?

Leota simply overthrew his WR on the RPO and Coastal Carolina CB Channing Armour was ready and waiting for the easiest touchdown of the season.
