FOUR? You lost four recruits to them? Yikes. The Marcus Freeman Era hitting some hiccups.

We didn't want those recruits anyways. Better ones are coming.

 losing 4 straight to Clemson. I guess if they can't beat you, they gonna sabo your recruiting
ShireNiner knows whats up. If we really wanted em, we woulda stolen em.

Honestly the TE Cano was the only one I was really bummed about

the real steal was Orakpo by Miami. 98 scouted speed and a green gem :obama:

You'd think it would be part of the game plan to cover the oppositions best receiver....right? Apparently not as Tabor collects his 3rd touchdown in the 1st half alone.

Conway, SC. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are officially so back. Quarterback Anthony Prude delivered the best half of his young career, torching North Carolina for six touchdowns and 354 yards in the first half alone as Coastal hung 49 points before the backups handled the entire second half.

The avalanche started fast. North Carolina opened with a three-and-out, and Marco Sawyer turned the ensuing punt into a magic act, escaping three defenders for a 64 yard touchdown return. Coastal never looked back.

Braydon Tabor spent the rest of the half making the Tar Heels secondary look like traffic cones, burning CB Justin Hoppes for a 50 yard score on his first catch and a 46 yard bomb on his second. His third touchdown was somehow the most painful for UNC. Facing 3rd and 1 and already up 42-14, the Tar Heels sold out for the run, leaving senior defensive end Storm Christianson (#78) lined up across from Tabor.

“It was a pass all the way,” offensive coordinator Tommy Rees grinned. “Even though I trust Ant would’ve audibled when he saw #78 lined up against Tabor.”

UNC briefly attempted to punch back with two touchdown tosses from Juan Pappoe, but turnovers buried the Tar Heels. A late first half interception and another late in the third quarter set up Frederick McCallum’s touchdown before Pappoe was pulled.

“We’ve been preaching patience with Ant all season. People forget this was only his seventh start,” Rees said. “We heard the calls for Johnny [Sumner] to get some run. Ant heard them, too. But now you see why it was never really on the table.”

Prude ended his day with a stat line straight out of a video game: 14 of 19, 345 yards, six touchdowns, all in one half.

Coastal Carolina continues its climb back into the national picture, now up to No. 4 at 6–1 following the opening week stumble vs Ohio State. The Chanticleers hit the road next week for a trip to Florida State (4–4).

first two they left him on single press coverage. He has takeoff, didn't work out well.

In the final one, somehow their starting defensive end was in coverage :pgdead: it was 3rd and 1 and I called a 2 TE mesh, they clearly loaded the box thinking it would be a run

Chanticleers Flip Recruiting On Its Head With Surge Of Commitments

Image

Conway, SC. - After watching Clemson reel in four recruits in three weeks, Coastal Carolina and head coach Marcus Freeman finally punched back, and did so with one of the loudest recruiting weekends in program history.

It began with Marquez Henderson, the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class and a Cornelius, N.C. native, who publicly committed shortly after Coastal’s 63–14 demolition of North Carolina.

“That’s it baby, CINO all the way,” Henderson posted after the game, later adding, “WHO ELSE IS COMING WITH ME” on X alongside a photo of fellow five-stars Ezekiel Gillette, Dontae Hook, and Antoine Borghi, all captured on the broadcast during their visit.

Whether Henderson’s message pressured the others or simply amplified the moment might never be known, but it worked.

Within hours, Gillette (No. 17 overall) and Hook (No. 18) announced their commitments, followed soon after by Borghi (No. 16), giving Coastal four top 20 recruits in a single weekend and flipping the national narrative on a program many questioned after Kade Vaughn’s exit.

Henderson is the headliner: a violent, downhill safety with corner level movement skills. “He’s got the athleticism of a corner and the playmaking of a linebacker,” one evaluator said. “If his game translates, you’re talking about a Bob Sanders type, everywhere at once.” In Freeman’s 4–2–5, he’s a plug-and-play Day 1 starter.

Borghi might have the highest ceiling of the group. At 6'1 and twitchy off the edge, he could stay at linebacker or grow into a true pass rusher depending on his frame. “He’s explosive. First step quickness, great bend. He can be whatever his body lets him be,” a staff source said.

Gillette profiles as a pure man to man corner, the exact archetype Coastal keeps stacking. At 6'0, 168, he isn’t the biggest, but he’s sticky, feisty, and always around the ball. Another staffer put it bluntly: “We’re gonna play man nearly every snap. He fits that.”

Hook is the classic middle linebacker thumper; instinctive, reliable, and technically sharp. “He’s not flashy, but he never misses and he’s always in the right spot,” the source added. “Think Walt Reyna; blue collar, lunch pail guy. And now he gets to be coached by Walt Reyna, which wasn’t a coincidence.”

In one weekend, Coastal Carolina went from a program facing questions about staying power to the school that just landed four of the top 18 players in the entire nation—and reclaimed its place among college football’s recruiting heavyweights.
