Louisville, KY. - It wasn’t pretty, but when the chips were down, Anthony Prude was the one cashing in. Despite three interceptions and a lost fumble, the redshirt freshman led a poised, clock-draining final drive — nearly five full minutes — before hitting his go-to target, Braydon Tabor, for a two-yard touchdown with just 16 seconds left, giving Coastal a three-point lead.

“Hats off to Prude. That’s resilience,” Marcus Freeman said. “Hostile territory, things not going right, and he still comes up with the drive of the game.”

Freeman also made sure to credit Fredrick McCallum, whose awareness might’ve saved the win.

“Give Fred some flowers too. Huge IQ play to slide down at the two.”

With a clear path to the end zone and just over a minute remaining, McCallum intentionally gave himself up rather than score, letting Coastal burn precious time before the eventual winner.

Louisville quarterback Sheldon Priester shredded the Chanticleers for much of the night — aided by missed tackles, busted assignments, and several high-level throws — but needing roughly 50 yards in 16 seconds, he was forced into creativity rather than comfort. His first attempt, an out route, never had a chance: corner Desmond Schraeder was sitting patiently in zone, jumping the throw for an interception he returned for a walk-off pick-six as time expired.

“I’m screaming at him, ‘GET DOWN!’” defensive coordinator Brent Pry joked afterward. “Clock was already gone, but you never want some chaos play giving them a convoy the other way.”

Despite Prude’s turnover-heavy night, OC Tommy Rees wasn’t concerned.

“One of those picks is on him — bad read with a linebacker lurking in zone. The other two? A tipped ball on a go route and a defender making a ridiculous diving catch. Great plays by them, not something you see every week.”

Freeman echoed that confidence: “You saw how he performed when it mattered. We’re not worried about Ant.”

Louisville clawed back from a 14–0 hole — helped along by Prude’s miscues — trimming it to 14–13 by halftime before taking a 21–16 lead early in the fourth. McCallum answered with a 71-yard burst, but Priester struck right back, standing tall with Carl Urbik barreling down to deliver what looked like the go-ahead touchdown.

“Outside of that late pick, Sheldon did everything we asked,” Louisville coach Jeff Brohm said. “But when you force four turnovers and still lose? That’s tough.”

Coastal remains on the road for their 4th straight game to open the 2034 title defense, with a trip to Morgantown on the ledger next week.

Prude's red zone fumble eventually turned into this blocked punt and a touchdown after the Louisville offense couldn't escape the shadow of their end zone.

Tabor and Pettis both went up for the initial catch, but as Tabor hit the ground Pettis kept his balance and grabbed the interception on the 2nd effort.

With Urbik bearing down, Priester sent his feet and fired for the go-ahead touchdown with 5 minutes left in the 4th Q.

Prude throwing INTs like me. Nice job so far on the start especially because it has been pretty tough with all the ranked teams.

I feel your struggles. Always nice to be able to pull off a win despite turnovers. I am projecting a big game from Prude though and feel like the Offense is ready to drop a 50 bomb on somebody.
