Chanticleers Suspend Senior WR Frank DuBose For Trip To LSU

Conway, SC. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers announced Wednesday that senior wide receiver Frank DuBose, a reserve pass-catcher and key special teams contributor, will not travel with the team to Baton Rouge for this weekend’s marquee matchup against LSU.

According to sources close to the program, DuBose was disciplined after posting multiple updates to social media during last week’s win over Wake Forest — including a halftime selfie from inside the Chanticleers’ locker room.

Neither head coach Kade Vaughn nor the athletic department commented further, though team officials confirmed the matter was handled internally.

Baton Rogue, LA.. - What was billed as a late-season test for the defending national champions quickly unraveled into chaos and another Coastal Carolina rout. Despite a sloppy start, the Chanticleers turned six LSU turnovers into 42 points, flipping a 14-10 deficit into a 59-14 blowout before the Tigers salvaged a few late scores.

Heisman frontrunner Cornell Jennings once again led the charge, rushing for more than 150 yards and five touchdowns in another statement performance. Jennings opened the scoring on Coastal’s first drive, but LSU’s transfer quarterback Jamie Guillermo responded immediately, finding Jason Booker for a quick answer. The Tigers took their first and only lead after Price Fortunato broke free for a 53-yard touchdown following a Fredrick Meredith interception, but that’s when everything fell apart.

Fortunato fumbled on each of his next two touches, both recovered by Coastal, and Jennings cashed in both times. Meredith followed with a perfectly placed deep ball to Tavares Tinker, and just like that, Coastal was up 38-14 at halftime and Tiger Stadium dead silent after a raucous start.

The second half brought more fireworks. On 2nd and 21 from their own nine, Meredith hit Morgan Briggs on a post route for a 91-yard touchdown, one of three deep strikes he connected on despite also tossing three interceptions. Jennings added his fifth touchdown of the night, and Meredith later found Bernie Bender to cap another explosive performance from the nation’s most efficient offense.

With the game well in hand, head coach Kade Vaughn handed the reins to true freshman quarterback Anthony Prude for his first collegiate action. “It’s something we did with Fred in his redshirt year too,” Vaughn explained. “You want those live reps in hostile environments. And hey, it’s hard to accuse me of running up the score when we’re just getting the future ready,” he added with a grin.

LSU forced four turnovers of their own, including a Prude interception, but never recovered from their own mistakes, dropping their second straight game at Tiger Stadium.

Coastal (9–0) will take a much-needed bye week before heading to Coral Gables for a highly anticipated clash with the Miami Hurricanes, who have been stoking the rivalry all season with cryptic “Expect Us” posts on social media.

If history is any indication, they might want to be careful what they wish for; because Coastal has made a habit of turning expectations into embarrassments.

Interceptions continue to plague Fredrick Meredith, with FS Mike Emery snagged three on his own.

ain't no way you losing this season. Coach Vaughn got this roster looking stacked! I think that's the highest team ratings i've seen haha. Solid start to the year so far, time to finish the last month strong. Love getting those stud 5* on the defensive side of the ball.
never say never. Clemson gave us a test early and even Florida State and Louisville had us on the rope for a half. Until we're there, job not finished.

I mean just the last two games have been complete blow outs. Louisville and Florida State either lead or were close at the half, Clemson nearly got us. We just had some soft teams int he middle of the schedule.

LSU and Miami will be the true test :yep:

he is going to a throw a career high in picks this year

I used Prude in the 4th Q and while he threw one pick, that one was on me. The rest of his throws were on grade and looked and felt way better than Meredith's. So not sure what's going on with Fred but he needs to figure it out lol
