McQUEEN SURVIVES DAYTONA CHAOS IN XFINITY DEBUT AS AUSTIN HILL CLAIMS OPENER
Image
LOGAN McQUEEN III BATTLED BACK FOR A TOP FIVE FINISH AFTER GETTING CAUGHT UP IN THE BIG ONE

Daytona International Speedway never grants easy introductions, and for Logan McQueen III, Saturday night’s United Rentals 300 served as a harsh, thrilling, and invaluable welcome to the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Under the lights, amid packed grandstands and a field stacked with veterans and hungry young guns, McQueen rolled off for his first Xfinity Series start carrying championship expectations from his Truck title, and the weight of proving he belonged.

After struggling with speed in qualifying and rolling off 33rd McQueen and his Peak Motorsports team made it clear that they weren't happy with just finishing the race.

From the drop of the green flag, the race unfolded in familiar Daytona fashion. Tight packs. Aggressive drafting. Constant tension.

McQueen’s No. 55 Chevrolet stayed clean through early turbulence, navigating multiple lanes with patience rather than desperation. While several contenders found trouble in the opening stage, McQueen survived, learning the rhythm of superspeedway racing at a new level.

Then, late in the first stage McQueen got tangled up in a big wreck and faded toward the back of the grid before fighting back for a 24th place finish in the first stage.

The rest of the night was all about picking spots, bold pit stop strategy and fighting back into the top ten.

McQueen finished 17th in stage two.

As the laps wound down, the intensity escalated.

A late multi-car incident thinned the field and set up a chaotic green, white, checkered sprint to the finish. McQueen and crew chief Alex Ward rolled the dice and elected to stay out, claiming the poll on the restart. While the Peak Motorsports team knew they didn't have the pace to hold onto the lead they were hopeful to be able to stay in the draft enough for a top five and that's exactly what they got, settling in behind Eric Almirola and Jesse Love for a fourth place finish.

For McQueen it's his career best finish at a track that he has historically struggled at.

“When you come here as a rookie in whatever series and you maybe don't have the best equipment and the pace in qualifying you're starting out in the back and it's a fight here so we're real happy with this finish, the crew dominated, Alex made all the right calls and we managed to stay out of trouble after that big one. Great weekend here.” McQueen said after the race, all smiles.

McQUEEN BREAKS THROUGH WITH PODIUM FINISH AS JESSE LOVE CONTROLS ATLANTA
Image
LOGAN McQUEEN III CHARGES FROM THE PACK TO SCORE FIRST XFINITY PODIUM IN JUST HIS SECOND START

EchoPark Speedway delivered exactly what its new-era layout promised, relentless speed, razor-thin margins, and constant pressure, and for Logan McQueen III, Saturday night became another defining step in his rapid NASCAR Xfinity Series ascent.

Just one week removed from surviving the chaos at Daytona, McQueen entered Atlanta still learning the rhythm of superspeedway-style racing in heavier, faster Xfinity machinery. Qualifying placed the No. 55 Peak Motorsports Chevrolet mid-pack, a reminder that raw speed alone wouldn’t be enough under the Georgia lights.

From the opening green, Atlanta turned into a chess match at 190 miles per hour.

McQueen remained patient through the opening stage, riding the middle groove and avoiding early trouble as aggressive moves up front reshuffled the field. He finished Stage 1 inside the top ten, picking up valuable state points as the race’s intensity steadily climbed.

Stage 2 told a different story.

McQueen got tangled up in a spin, miraculously saving the car but sliding back in the field, ultimately recovering and finishing the second stage in 19th.

The final stage became a test of nerve.

A late caution sent most of the field into the pits while McQueen and Connor Zilisch both elected to stay out, claiming the top two spots. While Peak Motorsports crew chief Alex Ward crunched the numbers and felt like McQueen's #55 Macc Door Systems Chevy could make it on fuel Zilisch would pit after a few laps.

With two laps left Jesse Love made his move and McQueen elected to play it safe, electing to preserve the podium finish rather than risk it fighting with Love. As the cars came to the checkered flag Nick Sanchez would nose past McQueen to clam 2nd place, edging him out by a razor-thin .012 seconds.

“Atlanta’s no joke,” McQueen said post-race. “You’re wide open, inches apart, and one bad move ends your night. We learned a lot at Daytona, applied it here, and this team gave me a car I could trust. First podium in this series in race two feels pretty special.”

McQUEEN AND DYE TANGLE LATE, MCQUEEN FINISHES OUTSIDE THE TOP 20
Image
DANIEL DYE AND LOGAN MCQUEEN JOCKEYED FOR POSITION LATE WITH MCQUEEN GETTING THE SHORT END OF THE STICK

Circuit of The Americas delivered exactly what it always promises, precision, patience, and punishment for even the smallest mistakes. For Logan McQueen III, Saturday’s Focused Health 250 became a challenging but necessary step in his early NASCAR Xfinity Series development.

After back-to-back superspeedway-style events to open the season, McQueen faced his first true road course test in Xfinity machinery. Qualifying placed the No. 55 Peak Motorsports Chevrolet deep in the field, forcing McQueen into traffic from the drop of the green on the 20-turn Austin circuit.

Stage 1 was about survival.

McQueen focused on clean laps and avoiding early chaos, working through congestion and heavy braking zones before finishing the opening stage 23rd as the field began to spread out.

Stage 2 showed progress.

With better rhythm and more confidence under braking, McQueen began picking off positions and finished the second stage 17th, a sign that the learning curve was starting to flatten.

The final stage became a test of endurance.

As Austin Hill controlled the race at the front, McQueen continued to manage tire wear, track limits, and traffic. After battling his way to just outside the top ten McQueen found himself in a several lap battle with Daniel Dye for a spot in the top ten. As the two entered turn 20 late in the race Dye made hard contact with McQueen and sent him into the grass. McQueen quickly recovered and salvaged a 21st place finish.

“Not happy with it obviously. We'll review it and learn from it hopefully.” A dejected McQueen said post-race.

They Said It
Logan McQueen III: “We raced each other hard all day, and I’m fine with that. But late in the race, when you’re battling for a solid finish, getting spun like that is frustrating. I felt like we had something going and it got taken out of our hands. I’ll remember it, but we’ll move on.”
Daniel Dye: “I hate it happened, but we were racing for position and things get tight. Nobody goes out there trying to spin somebody. That’s racing sometimes.”
