Madueke to Wolves for £104M

Sunderland have sold Noni Madueke to Wolves for a huge £104M fee. The player has been prolific for Sunderland this season, scoring over 20 goals in all competitions, however he doesn't have a clear fit in the new 4-4-2 system and as a result had to be moved on. It's believed that Sunderland may have other sales lined up as they are trying to potentially break the British transfer record on a player.

Jack Clarke Returns to Sunderland for British Transfer Record Fee

The prodigal son returns. Sunderland have paid £214M to trigger the release clause of Jack Clarke, quite possibly the greatest player in the history of the club. Clarke left last season because he thought the club lacked ambition and wanted to move to a club that had title winning aspirations. At Arsenal he has languished and not been nearly as productive as in previous seasons. He saw the direction of the Black Cats and realized that a move back made the most sense for his career. However, Arsenal were unwilling to sell the player. Sunderland were forced to use the huge cash inflow they got during this transfer window to trigger Clarke's release clause. Clarke will wear the #7 shirt and take on the RM role in the new 4-4-2 system.

Ethan Ampadu Joins Bayern for £110M

Ampadu has been a steady force at the back for Sunderland in the back 3 system, but with the club shifting to a back 4 with just two center backs, there had to be an odd man out in the starting XI. Because of Branthwaite and Guehi's superior physical profiles, those two were kept while Ampadu was made available for sale. Liverpool and Bayern Munich came knocking for the player, but Sunderland preferred to sell him outside of the Premier League and agreed to a £110M sale with the Bavarians.

Sunderland Complete Transfer Magic on Deadline Day, Bring Back for Global Transfer Record £242M

Sunderland have completed the sales of Adam Wharton to Tottenham for £57.5M, Gavin Bazunu to FC Lorient for £30M and Teden Mengi to Napoli for £24M all for the purpose of signing back Jobe Bellingham for a world record £242 million. Similarly to Clarke, Sunderland wanted to bring back one of their prized players in the 21 year old striker, Bellingham. However, Real Madrid refused to sell, forcing Sunderland to raise enough funds to trigger the player's release clause. They were successfully able to do so and then signed him on a 5 year £120K/week contract, making him the 2nd highest paid player at the club after Jack Clarke (£150K/week). This is a massive coup for Sunderland given their R16 tie with Madrid in the Champions League, but definitely an expensive one. The club is now down to 21 squad player with very little cash left to spend, so cheap deals or academy promotions will be necessary to fill the squad to 25.
