Jack Clarke Leaves Sunderland to Join Arsenal for £120M Fee

In an absolutely heartbreaking transfer, Jack Clarke, Sunderland's top scorer over the last 3 seasons with 87 total goals, the scorer of the winner in the Europa League final and fan favourite at the club, has decided to leave. Clarke had made it clear to Brendan Rodgers in private towards the end of last season that while the Europa success was great, the position of 9th in the league was not good enough for his ambitions. He considers himself one of, if not the best players in the English game and badly wants to win the Premier League. He has joined Arsenal who have rivaled City for the title for the last few seasons in pursuit of that goal. Clarke will be sorely missed and hard to replace for the Black Cats going forwards.

Leo Hjelde Joins Southampton for £3.35M fee

In a much smaller deal, left-side center-back Leo Hjelde has joined the recently relegated Southampton for a £3.35M fee. He hasn't featured much for Sunderland the last few years and believes he can get more game time and development at the Championship level.

Lewis-Skelley, William Newton Leave the Club in Small Deals

Two of Sunderland's young prospects Lewis-Skelly and William Newton have left the club on small deals. The former, a central midfielder bought from Arsenal really hasn't been able to find a place for himself in the team, he joins CFR 1907 Cluj of the Romanian league for just under £2M. William Newton, a recently promoted center back from the academy, leaves at just 18 years old for Danish side, FC Midtylland for just £1.4M.

PSG Complete £110.7M Swoop for Sunderland's Arnau Martinez

Sunderland's first choice right-back, Arnau Martinez, was exceptional last season particularly in Europe and he has thus caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in the world. One of those clubs, Paris St. Germain has decided to plonk down a fee in excess of £110M for the player which Sunderland had no choice but to accept. Just a year after joining from Girona, Martinez is off to a bigger club in PSG this summer.

Andre Almeida Continues Sunderland Exodus for £32.9M

Andre Almeida becomes yet another player to leave Sunderland this summer, opting to join Napoli, the side Sunderland defeated in the Europa League final, for a £32.9M fee. Sunderland's squad is beginning to look quite thin and the club is yet to make any signings with the UEFA Super Cup fast approaching, leading to concerns from some of the club's fans.
