Sunderland Acquire Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa in Swap

Sunderland have pulled off a shrewd move, swapping Eliezer Mayenda, the right winger who had been on loan from Sunderland for two year but failed to develop, for Tim Iroegbunam. Tim is a 22 year old central defensive midfielder with great strength and a high motor who should slot in nicely as the backup to Oliver Skipp in the RDM position.

Sunderland Promote Two Academy Players on Deadline Day

Sunderland have decided to use their academy to provide depth instead of making more signings. The club has promoted attacking midfielder Taylor Higgins given that Andre Almeida is out for the next two months with a broken toe. Higgins at 18 is a highly skilled dribbler known for his flair on the ball. Additionally the club has brought through 18 year old left-footed right-winger Luca Lees. WIth Mayenda exiting, he will be called upon as the backup to Noni Madueke on the right.
