Tottenham reach agreement with West Ham over Mohammed Kudus
Dorothy Howard
July 9, 2025 - 7:41 pm EDT

Tottenham have made their first big summer signing under Kwamele Owusu's management. The club made loan deals with Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso permanent, and they also announced the signing of Kota Takai. Now, Tottenham have reached an agreement with West Ham for Mohammed Kudus for a fee of around £55m, according to David Ornstein. Kudus still has to undergo his medical, but his unveiling is expected to be soon. The Ghana international is set to join on a six-year deal.
What will Kudus bring to Tottenham?
Kudus scored five goals and assisted three times in the Premier League for West Ham last season.
The winger is always a threat on the counterattack, exploiting opponents with his speed. He also has great technical abilities, taking on defenders one-on-one. Kudus will give Tottenham an attacking edge that the club has been lacking with Richarlison and Brennan Johnson. Kudus' arrival most likely signals the exit of Richarlison and potentially a few other players.
Owusu has a long standing history with Kudus, scouting and managing him as a youth player for Right to Dream Academy in Ghana as well at FC Nordsjaelland when Owusu was an assistant.
Kudus will need to be at his best to help Tottenham in the Champions League, which they surprisingly qualified for.

Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham OFF?! Nottingham Forest refuse to sanction £60m
deal for midfielder after 'illegal approach' from Spurs with official complaint sent to Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White has hit a major roadblock, with Nottingham Forest accusing the North London side of making an 'illegal' approach to their star midfielder. Despite Spurs triggering the 25-year-old’s £60 million ($81m) release clause, Forest have reportedly ceased all communication and are preparing a formal complaint to the Premier League.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Nottingham Forest have halted talks with Tottenham and are consulting legal counsel over what they claim was an illegal approach for Morgan Gibbs-White, according to multiple reports. It is reported that the Lilywhites had activated the midfielder’s £60m release clause without Forest’s permission to negotiate. The Telegraph has claimed that the deal is now completely off, but Sky Sports reports that Forest cannot actually block the transfer.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Forest are said to be furious about a breach of confidentiality, alleging Spurs had insider knowledge of the exact clause. While the club may not be able to legally prevent the move, they are determined to delay and challenge it through formal channels. Gibbs-White had already agreed on personal terms, which has sparked anger among Forest supporters.
TELL ME MORE...
Sky Sports' report also states that Forest never gave Tottenham the green light to speak to Gibbs-White and now believe the Premier League rules were broken when the North London side held conversations with the England international. A medical had already been scheduled for Friday before Forest pulled the plug and stopped communication. Tottenham remain confident they acted lawfully and believe the release clause justifies their approach.

Son Heung-min set to leave Spurs as LAFC move gathers pace
CHRIS WHEATLEY
August 1, 2025 - 9:25 pm EDT

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has informed the club of his desire to leave this summer, with Los Angeles FC pushing to secure a deal for the South Korean forward.
The 33-year-old, who has spent a decade at Spurs, held talks with new head coach Kwamele Owusu earlier this summer and is understood to have expressed his wish to leave on a high after leading the club to a European trophy in May. Son has enjoyed a prolific spell in north London, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists across 454 appearances. He was the first Asian player to reach 100 Premier League goals and won the Golden Boot in 2022.
Sources have indicated that Son was the only senior player to express an interest in moving on during Owusu's early conversations with the squad. Los Angeles is seen as his most likely destination, with MLS side LAFC showing strong interest. The club already has former Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on its books, and a move to California would place Son in the heart of the largest Korean community in the United States.
The presence of global stars such as Lionel Messi at Inter Miami has only added to the growing profile of Major League Soccer, and Son is said to be keen on playing a leading role in that next phase of growth. Meanwhile, Spurs are hopeful of signing Joao Palhinha on loan after opening talks with Bayern Munich over the Portugal midfielder.
Palhinha joined Bayern from Fulham last summer in a deal worth up to £47.4m ($62.9m) and is keen on returning to the Premier League after falling out of favour at the Allianz Arena.
